Steps to translate Artweaver
- First of all, you need the Artweaver Language Editor (you can get it from here)
- In the archive of the Artweaver Language Editor there is a project file included with the default English translation
- Start the Artweaver Language Editor and open the default project file
- Now you can translate all strings to your language
- After you have finished, save your work as a new project
- To apply/test/contribute the translation, use the export command in the Artweaver Language Editor to create a lng file. Save the file into the Artweaver language file directory (e.g. C:\Program Files\Artweaver Free 4.0\Languages) and start Artweaver to choose your translation in the preferences dialog box. After a restart of Artweaver the translation is used
Some important notes
- In some strings there are blanks at the beginning or at the end. Please don't remove these blanks
- With the instruction #PARA you can add a new paragraph
- Don't forget to adjust the information (Language File Editor -> File -> Properties) for the language file to the right settings
- If you send me your translated language file to info{at}artweaver.de, it will be published on the Artweaver homepage
- Take care of the comments which are included in the project file
Supporting a language file
When a new Artweaver version is released, sometimes a new language file is available. To merge your existing language file with this new file, you can do the following:
With the help of the merge function in the Artweaver Language Editor you can merge your existing language file with the new one. The base file is current language file and the new file is your existing language file. New Language items are highlighted with a color.
Important: Artweaver 4 uses a new translation system. Therefore merging older language files isn’t possible anymore.
