hi,
when using the "free transform" tool, for some reason the tool is larger than the layer.
i expect the tool to be at the exact size of the selected layer.

Can you please provide me a sample or screenshot which shows how the free transformation tool is larger than the selected layer?

here is a screencast: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6A_tyzdva0
see the orange shape, this is the whole layer, you can see that when i ctrl+click on the layer it is selected, so there are no redundant pixels elsewhere.
than ctrl-t and the tool is bigger then the orange shape.

i can also send you the .awd if you want.

The free transform tool is right here as the layer itself has a size of 32x32 pixels where most of it is invisible (transparent). You can easily verify this by filling the layer (Image -> Fill) with any color.

The free transform tool always uses the whole layer content for transformation where selecting the layer content (by ctrl + click) only selects the visible pixels.

this, to me, is a weird behavior. all i want to do is transform the visible layer.
how should i ever know that the layer size is different than the visible part?
how can i change it? i mean - how can i make the layer size same as the visible size?
how can i transform only the visible part?

hi,
see the screenshots of what i get Vs. what i expect.
we (users) are always interested in the visible pixels, right?

Artweaver only transforms the whole layer with all pixels. The transformation tool does not distinguish between visible and invisible pixels and thus if the layer is bigger in size as expected a situation like described here happens. Currently there is also no command in Artweaver available which shrinks a layer to only visible pixels.

As a temporary workaround you can select the part of the layer which should be transformed and copy & paste it into a new layer. This layer should have the expected size when the transformation tool is applied.
