Custom Cropping in Artweaver

Beitragvon rissaroo1234 » So Mär 22, 2009 9:41 pm

So, I've drawn a character in Artweaver, and I want to crop out all the white around it. not in a square or rectangle, but exact agents the character's outline. how do I do that?

I am not 100% sure I understand your question, but let me try to explain...
If you drew a character, it should be in a text layer - here you can anyhow do what you want without being bothered with any white around it.
If you "rasterized" the text layer you get pixels - but usually the previous text layer - now converted / rasterized - has a transparent surrounding, maybe you just watch the background layer (you can switch this off in the layer palette)? Anyhow, in this layer there are still no white surroundings and you manipulate this layer as you like.
If you merged this the text with any other layer that had a white background colour, you can still choose "layer"/"color range" -> selct the white background colour and only the painted parts are selected - now you play with this selection (cut or whatever).
Again, I am not sure this was your problem, but if it was you can have a try on this basis

I thought it was about a character as in drawing of a person, not text character. But as you said Vock, the drawing should be made in a separate layer - thus you can turn the background off.

However, with an image drawn in the background layer, this will be troublesome in Artweaver. To remove background, some programs use a method called Extract.

Anyway, you can try the magic wand tool in Artweaver:
1. Duplicate your layer with the drawing.
2. Use the Magic Wand Tool and select the white background.
3. Press Delete - the white will be removed.
4. Delete you background layer.
If the result is not satisfactory, you will probably need to do this in some other software.
